NEW YORK, NY (Universal Motown Records) - 2-time Grammy winner and 12-time Grammy nominee India.Arie added 3 more nominations to her resume when the 49th Annual Grammy Awards Nominations were announced this morning in Los Angeles. India.Arie was nominated for Best R&B Album for her triumphant album Testimony: Vol.1, Life & Relationship, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for her single from the album, "I Am Not My Hair' and another nomination for 'Hair' in the prestigious Best R&B Song category.

The awards culminate an incredible year for the acclaimed singer/songwriter whose return to the limelight via her third studio album Testimony: Vol. 1, Life & Relationship on Universal Motown Records has been hailed by both critics and fans alike. The much heralded disc, which debuted at number No 1 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart this summer, was produced by India.Arie with longtime collaborators Shannon Sanders and Mark Batson (Seal, Beyonce). VIBE Magazine described it as 'pensive and poeti' while the album's first video, 'I Am Not My Hair,' helmed by Barnaby Roper (Moby, Razorlight) fast became a staple on both VH1 and BET.

Testimony… was also hailed as a more personal expression from the singer/songwriter, with People Magazine calling the CD 'inspirational' and Glamour Magazine naming it among 'Songs to Download Now'. With several critics saying they'll be sure to put it on their year's best lists, the Grammy nominations affirm India.Arie's return as a seminal artist of the contemporary music scene.

India.Arie emerged onto the music scene in 2001 with her platinum plus debut Acoustic Soul and subsequently has won a host of awards including 2 Grammys, 3 NAACP Awards, as well as being recognized by BET, Billboard Magazine, MTV, VH1 and Essence Magazine, among others.

2002's Voyage To India cemented her rep as a seminal singer/songwriter, netting her 4 Grammy nominations and two statues. With more than six million albums sold, she was nominated last year for her 12th Grammy in the Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals category for her writing collaboration with Stevie Wonder on the title song of his most recent album, A Time To Love.

India.Arie is also an Ambassador for UNICEF and is universally recognized as a tireless champion of social and humanitarian causes around the world. She performed last month at the annual UNICEF Snowflake Gala in NYC and is planning a return trip to Africa where she has assisted in humanitarian efforts. Last year she participated alongside Ashley Judd in the documentary Tracking The Monster, a film on the AIDS crisis.

India.Arie recently performed at The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC for the 2006 Kennedy Center Honors which will air this month, Tuesday, December 26th at 9pmEST on CBS. The 49th Annual Grammy Awards will air live on CBS from the Los Angeles Staple Center on Sunday, February 11, 2007.
