Gilpin talks about 'Final Fantasy'

WASHINGTON (AP) - Peri Gilpin would like to be as buff as Jane Proudfoot, the character she voices in the new film, "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within". Gilpin told AP Radio that when she saw her computer-created character, she thought, "Why can't I look like that? I think she's a really good actress, too. She has a couple of facial expressions, I was just going, 'Oh, my gosh.'"

Gilpin plays radio producer Roz Doyle on NBC's hit sitcom "Frasier." Set in 2065, "Final Fantasy" traces the remnants of humanity as they battle an infestation of life-sucking phantoms that landed on Earth aboard a meteor 34 years earlier. The 40-year-old actress joked that although she doesn't believe all actors will be replaced by animated characters, "I think I can look forward to a lot of time on the unemployment line."
