Nashville, TN (Top40 Charts/ Arista) - Red-hot Arista Nashville newcomer
Jason Michael Carroll is rolling through an exciting time with a Top-10-and-climbing smash single (the powerful 'Alyssa Lies') and this week's release of his debut album, Waitin' in the Country.
Currently amid a multi-city album-launch tour of radio, television, concerts, and personal appearances, at Carroll's kick-off performance this week in Raleigh , NC , fans snapped up more than 600 copies of Waitin' in the Country.
Part of a non-stop stretch that's brought Carroll through Atlanta, Louisville, Kansas City, and more, Jason Michael rocks Minneapolis today with still more radio, TV and a club show sponsored by local radio station, KEEY-FM (K102). The incredible response from listeners prompted the station to open the age limit at the venue to fill the demand from younger fans anxious for their first chance to see the dynamic Carroll in person.
Both the album and Carroll himself have drawn praise from industry, media, and radio, with USA Today cheering 'the abundant quality of the songs and Carroll's deep, versatile voice ... adept at boisterous rockers and affecting minor-key laments,' while Billboard hailed the Don Gehman-produced 11-track collection as 'solid from start to finish.'
Kix Brooks, of superstar duo Brooks & Dunn, praised the 28-year-old North Carolina native, saying, 'Jason Michael Carroll has one of those unique, recognizable voices and an ability to speak from his heart in his songs. This is not a 'paint-by-numbers' artist, and the success of his single, 'Alyssa Lies,' proves the public is always ready for a good dose of that ...'
One of five songs Carroll wrote or co-wrote for the disc, 'Alyssa Lies' became the fastest-rising debut single by a country male in 2006 and set another record in 2007 when it debuted on Billboard's Digital Songs chart with the highest country new artist debut sales since the inception of the chart. Since its digital release, the track has maintained more than 10,000 purchased downloads every week.
Continuing on the road, Carroll will be making multiple media appearances in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and more before returning to Nashville for a performance on the February 24 edition of GAC's Grand Ole Opry Live. In addition to upcoming reviews and coverage in People, Entertainment Weekly, and elsewhere, fans can check out Carroll's sense of style as Country Weekly spotlights Jason Michael in the February 26 issue's Star Style feature.
