Sydney, AU. (Top40 Charts/ Universal Music Australia) - Wolfmother have become the first Australian band in a quarter of a century to win a Grammy Award, with the last successful Aussies to take home the gong being Men At Work 25 years ago.

Wolfmother have capped off an amazing year of International success, winning the prestigious Grammy award for their song, Woman, at the LA awards ceremony today.

The band beat System Of A Down, Tool, Buckcherry and Nine Inch Nails in the 'Best Hard Rock Performance' category, and are elated over the win.

"A grammy was the last thing on our minds today. We really thought that was reserved for the permanent residents of the U.S.A.! We're honoured and we're overwhelmed. It's enormous!"

The album was released in Australia in October 2005 and has already sold 5 x platinum in Australia and a total of 1.1 million copies worldwide.

Peaking at No 3 on the ARIA album chart around release and currently at No 17, the album has spent an astounding total of 67 weeks in a row on the ARIA chart. Their album picked up three ARIA awards in October last year including 'Best Group', 'Best Breakthrough Artist' and 'Best Rock Album'.

The band will return home this March / April for selected tour dates across the country.
