Ozark Henry has been awarded a prize for being the most downloaded Belgian artist of 2006.
Marc Verwilghen, the Belgian Minister of Economic Affairs, presented the award at a press conference organised by IFPI Belgium, the Belgian Video Federation and the Belgiam Interactive Software Association.
The award, handed out for the first time, was created by IFPI Belgium in collaboration with Ultratop, the official Belgian charts company.
Ozark Henry has had a string of commercial successes since the launch of his album This Last Warm Solitude in 1998. That album went Gold and then his third and fourth albums, Birthmarks and The Sailor Not The Sea, went Double Platinum. His latest album, The Soft Machine, released in September 2006, has already gone Platinum.
The artist has played three times at Rock Werchter (2002, 2003, 2005) and under his real name of Piet Goddaer has been nominated 17 times for a Zamu Award, winning six awards (Best Composer, Best Arranger, Best Producer, Best Artist and Best DVD).
Ozark Henry has worked as a composer, arranger and producer for Novastar (2004). He has also worked as a composer and performer for two fashion shows held by couturier Dries Van Noten (2005), the soundtrack for the television series Sedes & Belli (2002), the score and soundtrack for the film Crusade In Jeans (2006) and the documentary film To Walk Again about tri-athlete Marc Herremans.
