MARLTON, NJ. (Top40 Charts/ NARM) - The National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) is pleased to announce that it will honor two legends of the music industry at its upcoming annual convention, InSights & Sounds.07. Chicago, the legendary band known for extraordinary creativity, influential musicianship and staggering commercial success, will receive the Chairman's Award For Sustained Creative Achievement. Additionally, Soul Train creator and executive producer Don Cornelius will receive NARM's 2007 Presidential Award For Sustained Executive Achievement.

As the first American band to chart Top 40 albums in five decades, Chicago is one of the most successful groups in Rock history. Of its albums, 18 are Gold, 13 are Platinum, 12 have reached the Top 10 and five have hit No. 1. Chicago will become a member of an exclusive club of artists who have received the NARM Chairman's Award. Past recipients include Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand, Leonard Bernstein, Garth Brooks, Lena Horne, Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, Liza Minnelli, Carlos Santana, and Quincy Jones, to name just a few.

NARM is also applauding the invaluable contributions Don Cornelius has made to the music industry for his nearly four decades as a broadcaster, producer and visionary entertainment impresario. As the longest running TV program of any genre in the history of first-run syndication in America, Soul Train has inspired music aficionados with its hip dancing and exciting performances by top R&B, Hip Hop, Gospel and Jazz superstars. Cornelius joins an esteemed list of former recipients that includes such music industry luminaries as Clive Davis, Berry Gordy Jr., Dick Clark, and Casey Kasem, to name a few.
