New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Boucarou Lounge PR) - For years, Rap
Music has been associated with violence in general, and violence against women in particular. Shemshey, is a refreshing change from the "old hat" images and messages associated with Rap Music.
He presents, tonight, his first music video and the TV Show about his adventure to take over the world through his music at 7 PM at the very cosy Boucarou Lounge (64 E 1st NY 10003) where the press will be welcome with a drink.
Part Parisian, part West-Indian, Shemshey's music is Rap, most definitely Rap. But, this Rap Music is melodic, strangely haunting, and quite beautiful. It's a rap whose lyrics aim at a realistic depiction of life, its highs and lows, its complexity, rather than simply perpetuating the by now nauseatingly cliche images of gratuitous violence, tasteless sexualisation and fake emotion present in so much of rap music today.
This charming, well mannered young man is a new kind of Rap Artist... European, Sophisticated, and Urban.
This is a Rap Artist that you can bring home to your mother. The group is called "Le Ground". This name was chosen to express the earthiness of the music, as well as the discipline and dedication of its members..
The other members of "Le Ground" are as follows...
Redd...
This Michigan native started playing keyboard at the age of thirteen.
Tall, graceful, and elegant, Redd has hands custom made for the keyboard. Upon hearing him, one can feel the energy of a Herbie Hancock, the lyric beauty pf a Bill Evans, with a pinch of Motown thrown in for good measure.
Johnny...
Johnny started playing drums at the tender age of four. He reminds me of a young Max Roach. He certainly has Max's mastery of the drums, as well as his sense of style. Johnny keeps the beat going in a way that compliments the other band members without overpowering them. Not an easy task, but Johnny does it brilliantly, giving God the credit all the while.
Michah (ie Mookye)...
Michah started playing guitar at nine. His family background is quite interesting. His mother is a well known Poet, while his father owned bars in both Detroit and Chicago where the likes of Thelonius Monk and Muddy Waters could be heard. Highly intelligent, with a baby face , Mookie brings the history of a Robert Johnson, as well as an R& B flavor to Rap. This is a Rap that has the feelings and emotions of a Wes Montgomery. Mookye brings Funk and Blues to Rap in a distinctive way, bringing the elements of Rap's Funk influences to the group.
Armando...
Armando started his professional musical career at seventeen in New Orleans. Brooklyn born and raised this suave and handsome Latin is heavily influenced by the Rap scene of the early 90's. Armando can bring back the flavor of the 90's scene while remaining ever inventive and new. His Guitar can take you back to the Funk area of the 60's but with a Rap twist. Rap and its roots are ever present with Armando's Bass Guitar.
Le Ground will appeal to the young , without scaring their parents.
This Rap Music, is about the joy of making music in a Multi-Cultural atmosphere. This Rap is about life, the joy of it, the sadness of it.
In the world, about the world, and for the world.
