New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Witchwood Records) - There might be something spiritually and numerically symbolic about the Strawbs' 11 date summer tour this year, but definitely there will be something musical going on at BB. Kings Blues Club & Grill, 237 West 42nd Street on June 27 at 8 PM, when the Strawbs perform their unique style of British progressive rock. Tickets are $22.50 in advance and $25.00 day of show. The venue phone number is 212-997-4144 and its website is https://bbkingblues.com.

It's also an electric tour. The line up features the 1973-'75 (and the electric 2004) version of the band: singer/guitarist Dave Cousins, drummer, vocalist Rod Coombes, keyboardist John Hawken, guitarist/vocalist Dave Lambert, and bassist/vocalist Chas Cronk. The band was then on A&M, and their big albums were HERO AND HEROINE and GHOSTS.

HARP writer Fred Mills writes that the Strawbs are "still very much a contemporary musical force." All Music Guide's Bruce Eder notes the Strawbs were "one of the better British progressive bands of the early '70s...and differed-principally in their sound originated in British folk music rather than rock."

Recent Strawbs releases include albums on their own label-Witchwood Records' PAINTED SKY (2005) and RECOLLECTION (music from around 1970, which includes Rick Wakeman, Richard Hudson and John Ford), the box set, A TASTE OF STRAWBS. Also released is 2005's LIVE AT NEARFEST, where the band headlined the 2004 progressive rock gathering in Bethlehem, PA which features this line up of Cousins, Lambert, Cronk, Coombes and Hawken. Wrote COTTAGE VIEWS' Michael Cimino, "The live album culled from this concert is extraordinary in that it shows how powerful this music was and continues to be." NEARFEST will be serviced to the media for this tour.

Cousins, who founded the band in 1967 as the Strawberry Hill Boys, is doing the lion's share of the interviews this May and June.
