LONMDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Broad Street Digital) - Broad Street
Digital Ltd., a leading license management company specializing in intellectual property rights and digital content distribution, announced today that it's been selected by The
Music Kitchen, an independent European record label, to digitally distribute the 2006 X-Factor finalists MacDonald Brothers' self titled debut album. The MacDonald Brother's album, produced by former Bay City Roller and
Music Kitchen Director,
Stuart 'Woody' Wood, includes the remake of the 1974
Bay City Rollers hit, "Shang-A-Lang".
The MacDonald Brothers' debut album was number one on the Scottish album charts for two straight weeks in April and is currently in the Top 30 on the UK music charts. It is one of only two independent record label artists currently listed on the UK Top 30 music chart.
Gordon Campbell, Managing Director of The Music Kitchen, said, "We have chosen Broad Street Digital's rightsrouter platform because it enables an independent record label like The Music Kitchen to immediately distribute the MacDonald Brothers album to the world's leading online retailers, creating a significant new revenue stream with little effort. As a small label, this platform is a God-send, allowing us to compete with the major record labels without the up front expenses and resources typically needed to successfully market albums overseas and reach a global market. We are in process of putting our whole catalogue on the rightsrouter system, as we view this as a huge growth opportunity for The Music Kitchen to share our music with the world."
Broad Street Digital Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Arbinet- thexchange, Inc. (Nasdaq: ARBX). In December 2006, Arbinet acquired Flowphonics, a UK firm that developed rightsrouter, a platform for licensing and distributing music and video. This patented online system allows a music or video rights holder to catalogue, transact, distribute and manage licensing of its content with the world's major online and mobile retail services.
Bob Barbiere, Chief Operating Officer for Arbinet Digital Media Corp. commented, "We are pleased to be working with The Music Kitchen, as The MacDonald Brothers' album achieves skyrocket success throughout the world. Our newest version of rightsrouter has been met with incredible market acceptance, as evidenced by signing 127 labels in just three months. We continue to bring on new labels and artists daily. For independent labels, like the Music Kitchen, our platform provides immediate access to the world."
Broad Street Digital offers both fully managed and self managed solutions to independent record labels, allowing them to generate revenues and market their catalogues to a broader fan base universally without upfront manufacturing costs or set up fees. For rights owners who opt for the self managed solution, the platform provides simple, online tools for contract management, encoding, distribution, billing reconciliation and centralized settlement functions.
Former Bay City Roller and Director for The Music Kitchen, Stuart 'Woody' Wood, remarked, "The MacDonald Brothers have been playing instruments and performing since they were 5 years old, have amazing natural ability and people's reaction to them so far can be likened to my own days as a Bay City Roller. We are thankful that Broad Street Digital is helping us to bring these talented artists to the world."
