London, UK. (Top40 Charts/ Virgin Records) - The line-up is nearly complete for this year's V Festival, sponsored by Virgin Mobile, and today even more acts are announced. Taking place at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire over the weekend of 18th–19th August 2007, this year's V Festival is bursting with brilliant music acts: here are five more and there are still more to come!
McFly, The Thrills, Rilo Kiley, Glen Tilbrook and the Fluffers and The Hours are all getting ready to take to the stage along with the 46 other confirmed acts at this summer's V Festival, including headliners The Killers, Foo Fighters and Snow Patrol as well as Basement Jaxx, Kanye West, Mark Ronson and The Kooks.
Bob Angus, V Festival Director commented:
'In my mind, the perfect festival features a wide range of acts and this year I'm certain we've achieved that. A line-up featuring artists that range from Foo Fighters to McFly is just what you want; it appeals to everyone! I'm incredibly pleased with the way this year's V Festival is shaping up, and we've still got another great announcement up our sleeves.'
McFly have just topped the single charts for the seventh time with double A-side 'Transylvania/Baby's Coming Back'. This means that Tom Fletcher, who has written all McFly's previous number ones and also has writing credits on three of Busted's biggest hits, has just achieved his staggering 10th Number one single! Commenting on McFly's forthcoming appearance at V Festival, Tom said 'Me and the boys are really excited about playing this year's V, it always has a brilliant line up and this years is no exception. Although we won't be getting naked again, we'll definitely have something up our sleeves!'
Having toured almost non-stop for four-and-a-half years, establishing their credentials as one of the key acts of the decade, The Thrills turned their attention to making their third album, 'Teenager' and in the process re-discovered the thrill of being the Thrills. This summer they play V.
Rilo Kiley are releasing the widely anticipated follow-up to 2005's 'More Adventurous' this summer. The band will be touring and playing major European festivals including this year's V!
If a vocal session in the middle of a field hints at a more relaxed approach to record making, then it's in keeping with Glen Tilbrook and the Fluffers sonic vision. With a signature style marked by brilliant melodic invention, cheeky humour and slice-of-life pathos, Glen Tilbrook is preparing to take to the road with his three piece band The Fluffers, passing through V Festival on the way.
In 2004, Ant Genn and Martin Slattery attended a Radiohead gig. Blown away by the power of the performance Ant turns to Martin and says 'Let's start a band'. The result is The Hours, a band who mean something, who are driven to communicate with as many people as they can reach with big, sweeping, straight-talking and beautiful music.
