Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Rocky Comfort Records) - Award winning country singer and songwriter Tracy Lawrence, visited nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65) (Big E) May 20 for a tour of the ship and to meet and eat with Sailors before giving a free concert at Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek later the same evening. During his visit, Lawrence was escorted through the ship's hangar bay, foc'sle, flight deck and navigation bridge and learned how the Big E supports combat operations while at sea. Lawrence said he is a big supporter of the American armed forces and feels privileged to have the opportunity to meet with Sailors and Marines along with seeing the world's largest warship. 'I'm excited about it. I've never actually been on an aircraft carrier. I've done USO (United Service Organizations) tours in the past, and I got to fly in an F-16,' he said. 'We're in a time of war, and I think everybody in our industry is very supportive and will come out and support you guys as much as we can.' Lawrence was voted the 1992 Academy of Country Music's New Male Vocalist and has since then released 13 albums, many of which made the nation's top 10 country album list. Enterprise is currently preparing to deploy this summer and is scheduled to get underway for sustainment exercises with Carrier Strike Group 12 and Carrier Air Wing 1.
