HOLLYWOOD, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Capitol Records) - The much anticipated and critically acclaimed major label debut by New York City's own Interpol has debuted at No 4 on this week's Billboard Top 200 chart; their highest debut in the US to date. The band's third album and first for Capitol Records scored an astounding 15 top 20 chart positions around the world including two No 1 album entries in Ireland & Mexico, No 2 in the UK, top 5 in the US, Canada, Belgium, & Holland. The album also landed at No 2 on the iTunes digital chart.

Since kicking off their global assault at this year's Coachella festival to rave reviews, the enigmatic band has been making mainstage festival appearances and fan friendly club shows around the world which culminated last week in a sold out performance in the UK and an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman where they performed their current single, "The Heinrich Maneuver". The US tour which kicks off in Rochester, NY on July 19th will include a hometown appearance at Madison Square Garden.

Fans and critics alike have taken notice of the band's grander approach on this new album. Of the band, Q Magazine heralded them as "One of the Ten Most Exciting Bands in the World Right Now!" and of the album NME called it "exhilarating and slightly foreboding" while USA Today called it "much more arresting than past works" and in Entertainment Weekly's A- review, the band was credited for "consistently living up to expectations ... The outcome is akin to an artistic explosion." "A majestic, grandiose album ... spellbinding" was Uncut's assessment while 4 star grades have been handed out by MOJO, Q, NME, TimeOUT NY, Alternative Press and URB to name a few.

Interpol are: Paul Banks, Carlos D, Sam Fogarino and Daniel Kessler and can be currently seen gracing the COVER of the August 2007 issue of SPIN Magazine.
