NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ SoundClick) - SoundClick.com, the leading independent artist music community, today announced the celebration of 10 years in business.

Since 1997 SoundClick has been offering bands and artists a platform to gain recognition and market their music to an ever-growing audience.

"In the beginning we offered each artist a custom-designed webpage which took a couple of days to build for every single band," remembers Tolgar Canli, co-founder of SoundClick. "Today, with 90,000 new songs uploaded each month this wouldn't work anymore".

"Technically, we really grew along with the Internet. Today, almost all parts of the website are user-generated. The art is to make it look like every page is still custom-designed," adds Tanju Canli, the other co-founder and twin brother of Tolgar.

Ten years in business is a long time, especially on the Internet. So what's been the winning formula for SoundClick? "It probably sounds old-fashioned, but listening to our audience has been the key," says Tolgar Canli. This has led to the large portfolio of services SoundClick offers today. From streaming and selling MP3 downloads to networking with other bands or fans, the main focus is on being a true artist music community. That also means catering to the music business. Over 500,000 songs on SoundClick can be licensed either for a fixed fee or with the popular creative commons license.

"We've seen so many trends come and go, that over the years we picked and fine-tuned those ideas we considered having true staying power with the people," says Tanju Canli. "First we concentrated on services that the bands and artists could use in the real world. So offering a one-click solution to sell your songs in the digital age was important, as was the development of promotional vehicles we give to the bands and artist. Lately the networking with fans has become crucial, that's why we strengthened the social community aspect."

Launched in January of this year, the social community network adds to the impressive numbers of SoundClick statistics. SoundClick counts more than 2.5 million unique users every months and its catalogue offers over 2.5 million songs by now.

So what's in store for SoundClick for the next 10 years? "Obviously, you can always become more popular. Not only to musicians, but to music fans as well," says Tolgar Canli.

"We still have a ton of ideas in mind to always offer more and better services to our users," add Tanju Canli with a smile. "We very much look forward to the next 10 years."
