New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Anzic Records) - "Anat Cohen is suddenly everywhere," the
Boston Phoenix recently observed. That's because the young Israeli jazz artist, who has a pair of stellar new releases to her credit ('Poetica' and 'Noir,' Anzic Records), is enjoying the most successful and trailblazing year of her career. This fall Cohen will hit the road with a string of national dates kicking off in Arlington, VA on
September 9th ending in Columbia, MO on December 7. She will also perform 6 nights at the Jazz Standard in NYC from October 30 - November 4.
Cohen's live performances are winning over audiences and critics around the country. "An improviser with gusto" (New York Times), Cohen recently made her debut at the Newport Jazz Festival, headlined the sold-out Women in Jazz Festival at the Kennedy Center, and concluded a residency at the Village Vanguard, marking the first time that a female horn player headlined the legendary club. She was also the first Israeli to headline the storied venue. Don't miss what the Washington Post calls "the most original young instrumentalist in jazz" at one of her upcoming shows.
Earlier this year Anat Cohen was honored with two major awards by the Jazz Journalists Association: Clarinetist of the Year, and Up and Coming Musician of the year. And in the August issue of Downbeat, she is voted Rising Star Clarinetist of the year and given nods in five separate categories in the magazine's long-running annual critics poll.
