NEW YORK, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Polo Grounds Music/ J Records) - Hurricane Chris, Polo Grounds Music/J Records' newest hip-hop phenomenon, has been selected to perform his hit single "A Bay Bay" from his upcoming debut album 51/50 Ratchet, on the 2nd Annual BET Hip Hop Award. Storming his way into the hip-hop scene with his hit "A Bay Bay," Hurricane Chris received four BET Hip-Hop Awards including Track of the Year, Ringtone of the Year, Rookie Artist of the Year and the Alltel People's Choice (Viewer's Choice). The four nominations make Hurricane Chris the most voted amongst the other "rookie" nominees (Plies, Rich Boy, Lil' Boosie and MIMS)! The BET Hip-Hop Awards will air on the network on October 17 at 9:00 PM ET/PT.

Even though Hurricane Chris made the world take notice with the summer's biggest and most addictive hip-hop hit "A Bay Bay" with over 2.3 million digital/mobile sales, and will continue to keep everyone's attention with his chart-climbing new single "The Hand Clap," he's far from a rookie. Rapping since the age of 8, Hurricane Chris has accumulated years of grinding and freestyling in Shreveport, LA (home of the Ratchet Movement), resulting in numerous guest appearances and mixtapes, including his most recent, Louisi- Animal, which, according to a positive review by the New York Times, "makes it even harder to wait for the album."

Now 18 years old, the wait will soon be over as Hurricane Chris is set to release his official major label debut album 51/50 Ratchet on October 23 on Polo Grounds Music/J Records. Executive produced by Michael "Mr. Collipark" Crooms and Bryan Leach, President of Polo Grounds Music, 51/50 Ratchet is destined to be one of the biggest breakout albums from the south since Young Jeezy.

While the Ratchet Movement consists of the lifestyle and culture of Shreveport, LA, including the dance craze, "The Ratchet," which was recently cited by Rolling Stone as one of "5 Reasons Hip-Hop Is Not Dead," the Ratchet sound was created by Lava House's in-house producer Phunk Dawg, the man behind the rise of both Hurricane Chris and fellow Louisiana representative Lil' Boosie. On 51/50 Ratchet, Phunk Dawg expands the Ratchet sound into several standout cuts, all complemented by Hurricane Chris' lyrical ferocity, including the addictive "A Bay Bay," "The Hand Clap," "Do Something" and "Momma," an ode to mothers everywhere. Mr. Collipark and The Package Store add their production savvy to the soon-to-be club bangers "Beat In My Trunk," Getting Money" and "Playas Rock," featuring Polo Grounds Music label mate Boxie.

With top-notch production and an album full of poetic wit and street sensibility, Hurricane Chris and his debut album 51/50 Ratchet is poised to resurrect Hip-Hop.
