LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Steve Miller Band Official Website) - Coming Home Media will release Live From Chicago, the first-ever DVD from multi-Platinum selling recording artist the Steve Miller Band on May 20th. The three-disc set will be comprised of two DVDs and a 12-song CD. One of rock 'n' roll's true originators, the Steve Miller Band has sold over 25 million albums since its 1968 debut and is still a mainstay of the summer concert season, attracting sold-out, multi-generational crowds.
Directed and produced by Daniel E Catullo III (Godsmack, Rush, Dave Matthews Band) and produced by Jack Gulick (Bruce Springsteen, Metallica, Godsmack), the DVD, shot at Chicago's prestigious Ravinia Festival in July 2007, captures the Steve Miller Band's incredible sold-out, two-night stand. With 5.1 Surround Sound and state-of-the-art high definition from 17 cameras, disc one of Live From Chicago is packed with powerful performances of 20 of the band's most beloved songs - including "Fly Like An Eagle," "Living in the USA," "Jet Airliner," "Abracadabra," "Rockin' Me," "The Joker," "Take the Money and Run," "Swingtown" and "Jungle Love."
The second disc contains a revealing documentary of the band's traditionally reclusive namesake. Miller takes fans on a trip into his past, visiting many of the clubs where he got his start. Beginning in the mid-'60s when a young Miller moved to Chicago itching to become part of the city's vibrant blues scene, the trip down memory lane includes recollections of his pre-Steve Miller Band gigs with Blues legends like Buddy Guy, Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf. This remarkably intimate documentary and accompanying photo gallery features many exclusive images from Miller's own collection. Both DVDs come packaged in a luxurious digipak with a 12 page, full-color booklet, and are accompanied by a 12-song live CD of all of the band's favorites.
The concert portion of the DVD has become the basis for Steve Miller Band Live From Chicago, a television program airing on PBS as part of the June 2008 pledge drive. The program is available to PBS stations through the summer, in conjunction with the band's major summer U.S. tour. Details to be announced soon!
