BARCELONA, Spain (MTV Europe, P. Diddy Fans Websites) - Some of the biggest stars in pop and rock are converging on Barcelona to take part in the year's biggest pan-European music awards ceremony.

Eminem, Robbie Williams, Whitney Houston and Enrique Iglesias will all perform at Thursday's MTV Europe Music Awards in front of a 12,000-strong live crowd, with millions more watching on TV.

Four nominations each:
Eminem, Coldplay, Kylie Minogue, Pink, Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, Royksopp.
There is no clear favourite to be the night's biggest winner, with seven artists going into the ceremony with four nominations each.

Rap star P Diddy will host the ceremony, and has promised a "big old party". P Diddy himself is nominated for best hip-hop artist - but will face strong competition from Eminem. "I think it's Eminem's year," P Diddy said.
Eminem is up for best male, best video and best album, for The Eminem Show.

P. Diddy also whised to his one-time love Jennifer Lopez the best of luck in her future with actor Ben Affleck on Tuesday, saying marriage was "a beautiful thing. I hope it works out," Combs said during preparations for the MTV Europe Music Awards, in response to news his former long-term partner was going to marry Affleck.

Up for the best album prize are Kylie, No Doubt, Pink and Coldplay.

Coldplay will perform as well as hoping to take home one of their four nominations.

The other stars on show will include Halle Berry, Pierce Brosnan, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Rupert Everett, who will all present awards.
The best UK and Ireland category will be contested by Ms Dynamite, Atomic Kitten, Coldplay, Sugababes and Underworld.
There are also categories for the best acts from nine other European countries - including Romania, Poland and Russia.

Among the other stars performing will be Christina Aguilera, Foo Fighters, Moby and Wyclef. In 2001, Gorillaz, Craig David and Limp Bizkit won two awards each when the ceremony was held in Frankfurt, Germany.
