Sydney, AU. (Top40 Charts/ EMI MUSIC Australia) - After a ten year painstaking hiatus, The Verve are finally back with their highly anticipated new single 'Love Is Noise'. The track is an up-tempo infectious dance-fest with a great hook and the distinctive voice of singer Richard Ashcroft, who has been described as "the greatest singer in the world" by no less a peer than Coldplay's Chris Martin.

"The Verve? Upbeat? Dance-worthy?" we hear you cry! Yes, we were confused as too, but after giving 'Love is Noise' a little time to settle in, it all made sense. The band's sound has matured beyond the melancholy bitter(sweet)ness of their mid-twenties and embraced the complexities of love and life through their music. They're not on the Venga Bus, but they're no longer drowning cats in bags a la 'The Drugs Don't Work'.

Since their hey-day in the late 90's, The Verve have sold over 300,000 albums in Australia, the majority of which came from the massive Urban Hymns (1997) album. The iconic album featured 'Bitter Sweet Symphony', 'Lucky Man', 'Sonnet', 'The Drugs Don't Work', and many others which still receive global airplay today. After the release of 'Urban Hymns' the band split up and went on to have separate projects. Richard released 3 solo albums in that time.

The Verve are currently on tour with a number of festivals around Europe and will be headlining Glastonbury at the end of this month and going onto others including V Festival in the UK and Summersonic in Japan.
