New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - In planning the release of 'One Shot Deal,' Gail Zappa happened upon the amazing cover image in the Zappa Family Trust Archives, unlabeled. In the liner notes, she writes, "Trapped in Spring Cleaning mode, I happened upon a drawer that surely had not been opened for maybe 20 years. And right there it was - the cover shot! A 'One Shot Deal' if ever there was a roadmap in Serendipity. Amusing that FZ had always maintained that he was in the business of connecting the dots and here they were..." Designed to showcase Frank Zappa's incredible musicianship, 'One Shot Deal' presents largely instrumental, live and studio tracks from 1972 to 1981 with a variety of bands. All tracks are previously unreleased except for "Heidelberg," which appeared on a 1987 Guitar World cassette tape. "Occam's Razor" inspired the creation of the album; Gail Zappa says, "That guitar solo that is 'Occam's Razor' cut through everything like a razorblade. That track inspired us to compile the rest of the album around it from other goodies that Vaultmeister Joe Travers had unearthed." The CD is just one part of the Zappa Family Trust's continuing mission to celebrate and protect the legacy of Frank Zappa. The cardboard packaging for 'One Shot Deal' is constructed from 40% recycled fibers and a chlorine-free process. The inks are vegetable based with three time the FDA recommended level of vegetable additive to be considered "green." The trays are made from 100% Post Consumer Recycled material. Frank Zappa produced, recorded, composed, arranged, mixed and conducted all tracks on 'One Shot Deal.' Gail Zappa and Joe Travers produced the compilation. The CD is available now at www.Zappa.com.
