New York, NY. (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - With his new EP 'Cabin Ghosts' (Black Seal) hitting stores last week, Wisconsin's son of the boundary waters, Cory Chisel, was named Artist of the Week by the New York Times pop music podcast.
In her introduction, NY Times pop editor Sia Michel notes that Cory's soulful, yet unadorned songs are "inspired by his strict rural childhood and the music of Johnny Cash." Cory stopped by the New York Times' offices recently to discuss those influences and more with music writer Ben Sisario, and play a song from 'Cabin Ghosts.'
Cory recently completed a successful residency tour of the Northeast that also saw him performing for XM Satellite Radio and New York's CW11 Morning News.
Cory will tour the midwest extensively in October - where he already fills 1000+ seat theaters in some markets - and return to NYC for two CMJ shows, October 22 at Bowery Ballroom, and October 23 at Pete's Candy Store in Williamsburg. Many shows on the October tour will feature Cory backed by his 5-piece band, The Wandering Sons. See below for the latest itinerary, and stay tuned for more dates to be announced soon.
