Los Angeles, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Geffen/ Suretone Records) - The Pink Spiders, the band with the explosive sound and attitude to burn, have been on the road all summer and fall in support of the release of their latest album, Sweat It Out. They've logged thousands of miles crisscrossing the country as a three-piece, with a hired gun on bass. Now, the rockin' arachnoids are looking to fill that elusive rhythm section slot with a permanent member. Starting today, October 29th, Alternative Press Magazine will present the search for the fourth Spider. Anyone with access to a computer can upload a video showcasing their bass talents, and be on their way to a life of rock n' roll abandon.

Interested musicians will upload a video to YouTube of themselves playing bass along to a track from Sweat It Out, then label and submit the video according to the rules below and at the Alternative Press Web site, www.AltPress.com. Once the band is notified of videos, they will review and call the best players to meet them for live auditions at soundchecks along the tour. Several major markets (bolded below) will be featured on AltPress.com for live voting, and the highest-rated will play live during the band's set that night. Following the tour, The Pink Spiders will announce the winner of the contest-their new bass player-via the magazine.

For the band, whose ultimate reward is getting to play a full set to rabid fans on their own headlining tour, this contest sweetens the pot. Says lead singer/guitarist Matt Friction, "We've been looking for a new permanent member of the family, and wanted to open it up to the whole country. We thought this was a great way to do it." The tour begins October 26th in Bakersfield with supporting acts Cruiserweight and Mondo Primo (most dates), and concludes November 28th in the band's hometown of Nashville at, appropriately, The End.

Sweat It Out is the band's first album on Pink Spiders frontman Matt Friction's own label Mean Buzz, via Adrenaline Music. Super-producer Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Bruce Springsteen) was at the helm for the recording sessions. The new album's first single and video, "Gimme Chemicals," is at radio and video channels now Stream the album and video at: https://www.adrenalinemusicgroup.com/Artists/ThePinkSpiders.php.

Infamy and chaos have followed The Pink Spiders since they first stormed onto the Nashville music scene in 2004 with their self-released debut The Pink Spiders Are Taking Over, which immediately led to the band's first indie deal less than 6 months after forming. The guys quickly generated a big buzz with their 2005 indie label release Hot Pink, an infectious dose of dark pop detailing fast getaways and faster women. Less than three weeks after the Hot Pink release, and in the midst of a nationwide tour, the band found themselves at the center of a major-label bidding war.

The Pink Spiders landed a deal with Geffen/Suretone, and in short order released their major label debut, Teenage Graffiti, produced by hit-maker and legendary frontman of The Cars, Ric Ocasek. That album spawned the single "Little Razorblade," which exploded on radio stations from coast to coast as well as on MTV's Total Request Live. Now, having moved back to the indie world as major labels continue to sway unsteadily on shaky ground, Matt Friction and his bandmates are poised to prove that the success of Teenage Graffiti was no fluke.
