LOS ANGELES (Metallica Official/Linking Park Fans Websites) - It's finally official!
Metallica announced today that they would be teaming up with
Linkin Park and
Limp Bizkit for a tour this summer.
The Summer Sanitarium Tour 2003 sees the bands hitting about 20 North American cities together. There are no specific dates set for shows yet.
According to Metallica's official Web site the tour will visit the following cities: Minneapolis, St. Louis, Orlando, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Columbus, Montreal, Dallas, Houston, Seattle, Denver; San Francisco, Los Angeles, Detroit, Toronto, Washington /Baltimore and Chicago. Tickets for most shows will go on sale Feb. 22.
At the shows, Metallica is expected to feature material from its next studio album, "St. Anger," due June 10. A series of European festival appearances are sandwiched around the Summer Sanitarium dates, beginning June 6 at the Rock Im Park festival in Nuremberg, Germany and stretching through Aug. 22 and 24 gigs at the U.K.'s Reading and Leeds festivals.
Limp Bizkit is finishing up work on its upcoming album "Lessismore," due in May. The band has yet to announce a permanent replacement for guitarist Wes Borland, who was not involved with sessions for the new disc. It is not yet known who will be playing guitar in Bizkit's live incarnation.
Linkin Park will be touring in support of its hotly anticipated sophomore album, "Meteora," due March 25. The group will tease the set with a handful of European shows later this month, beginning Feb. 23 in Milan.
