Back in the late '80s, Randy "The Ram" Robinson (Mickey Rourke) was a headlining professional wrestler. Now, twenty years later, he ekes out a living performing for handfuls of diehard wrestling fans in high school gyms and community centers around New Jersey. Director Darren Aronofsky presents a powerful portrait of a battered dreamer, who despite himself and the odds stacked against him, lives to be a hero once again in the only place he considers home - inside the ring.

The Bruce Springsteen title track will not be a part of the soundtrack but is currently available on his new studio album, "Working On A Dream."
Mickey Rourke recently won a Golden Globe� for his riveting portrayal of "The Ram." Additionally, both Rourke and costar Marisa Tomei have been nominated for Academy Awards � for Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role and Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role, respectively.
THE WRESTLER had its North American premiere at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival and won the Golden Lion at the 2008 Venice Film Festival. Directed by Darren Aronofsky and written by Rob Siegel, THE WRESTLER stars Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood. The film was produced by Scott Franklin and Darren Aronofsky through Protozoa Pictures. Vincent Maraval, Agnes Mentre and Jennifer Roth served as executive producers and Mark Heyman co-produced.
Jim Black (Music Supervisor) has served as music supervisor on almost 40 films including KISSING JESSICA STEIN, A LOVE SONG FOR BOBBY LONG starring John Travolta; the Oscar nominated THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS, and the 2008 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award winner THE WACKNESS. Black is currently working on THE MISSING PERSON with Amy Ryan and THE REBOUND starring Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Gabe Hilfer (Music Supervisor) has worked on several hit movies such as the Oscar nominated Michael Moore documentary SICKO and THE WACKNESS, which took home the Audience Award at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. Hilfer's upcoming credits include the documentary WHO DOES SHE THINK SHE IS? about working mothers and the remake of BABY ON BOARD starring John Corbett and Lara Flynn Boyle.
