The 24-year-old musician and actor, who has finished his own album and is in the studio recording drums with Toronto group SWEET THING, has recently co-produced the self-titled debut record by Sweet Things NICK ROSE. Tyler, who performs with his own group, plays and writes with Rose and Britain RYAN OREILLY as BLUE FOX. Tyler will perform in his hometown, Lindsay, Ontario later this spring.
A most experienced young actor; at age 10, Tyler won the role of young Tommy in the Toronto production of The Whos rock opera. He has co-hosted the popular Popular Mechanics for Kids TV Show, with Elisha Cuthbert, for 3 years and starred in the hit television series, Instant Star for 4 seasons. Tyler has also performed in Goosebumps, Darcy's Wild Life, Missing, Prom Queen, Due South, The Elizabeth Smart Story and Guess What?, among other television and film productions and he has been nominated for a Gemini Award. No longer in production, Instant Star is still seen several times a week on CTV and MuchMusic, as well as in 120 countries. His compositions have been featured on the soundtrack albums Songs From Instant Star: Three & Four and.
TALKING PICTURES was released on iTunes in December when the first single, What You Need, charted across Canada. The 10 tunes are evocative, introspective pop unified by Tylers earthy guitar sound and brawny rock influences underscored by his ability to connect with people. Musical influences include Bruce Springsteen, Ryan Adams, Aerosmith, Blue Rodeo, Tom Petty, Pearl Jam and Hawksley Workman.
Talking Pictures is on The Orange Record Label distributed by Universal Music Canada. The album was produced by Dave Thomson, engineered by Dennis Tougas and mastered by Joao Carvalho. Excluding Let's Talk, which was recorded at The Canterbury Music Co. and engineered by Jeremy Darby, the album was recorded at Vespa and The Orange Lounge. All guitars and keyboards are by Tyler and Dave Thomson except for Dan Kantor on Let's Talk, with drums by Rich Knox, (Gary Craig on Let's Talk), violin by Sarah McElravy, bass by Rich Moore and additional vocals by Dave Thomson and Tyler.
