SANTA MONICA, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Recording Academy) - Music's Biggest Night, the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards, returns to Los Angeles' STAPLES Center on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, and will air live on the CBS Television Network from 8 - 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT). To accommodate an earlier date, the eligibility year for the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards will be shortened by one month (Oct. 1, 2008 - Aug. 31, 2009). The date for the GRAMMY nominations announcement - which showcases GRAMMY Award finalists, the year's best and brightest in music as voted on by The Recording Academy's membership of music professionals - will be reported shortly.

"We are delighted to host the world's premier music event in our hometown again, especially with the newly-opened GRAMMY Museum in our backyard," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy. "As always, GRAMMY Week will kick off with events that showcase various genres of music, educational programs and charitable initiatives. We also look forward to working on another remarkable GRAMMY telecast with the City of Los Angeles and our great partners at CBS and STAPLES Center."

"Music's Biggest Night on America's most watched Network always creates memorable moments for television," said Jack Sussman, CBS Executive Vice President, Specials, Music and Live Events. "We look forward to doing it again with our partners at The Recording Academy."

GRAMMY Week - a weeklong series of cultural events culminating in Music's Biggest Night - will again feature celebrations of music, fashion, education and philanthropy, including the "Salute To" series, GRAMMY Style Studio, GRAMMY Career DaySM, The Recording Academy and Clive Davis Pre-GRAMMY Gala, and the annual MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute, the GRAMMY Foundation's Music Preservation Event, the Entertainment Law Initiative and the Producers & Engineers Wing event, among others.

Established in 1957, The Recording Academy is an organization of musicians, producers, engineers and recording professionals that is dedicated to improving the cultural condition and quality of life for music and its makers. Internationally known for the GRAMMY Awards - the preeminent peer-recognized award for musical excellence and the most credible brand in music - The Recording Academy is responsible for groundbreaking professional development, cultural enrichment, advocacy, education and human services programs. The Academy continues to focus on its mission of recognizing musical excellence, advocating for the well-being of music makers and ensuring music remains an indelible part of our culture.
