NEW YORK (Evanescence Fans Website) - Zomba Music's Christian distribution arm, Provident Music, has dropped Evanescence from their roster and has recalled the band's hit debut, "Fallen," from Christian retail stores. The move follows an Entertainment Weekly interview with Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody who was quoted as saying, "We're actually high on the Christian charts, and I'm like, 'What the f*** are we even doing there?" However, the band did rise through the Christian rock underground before hitting it big. In a 2000 interview with Stranger Things magazine, Moody said, "The message we as a band want to convey more than anything is simple-God is Love. He is a just God, but a gracious God." The album was #1 on Billboard's Christian Contemporary Charts last week. The disc will no longer be included in the category. "There are people hell-bent on the idea that we're a Christian band in disguise, and that we have some secret message," singer Amy Lee told Entertainment Weekly. "We have no spiritual affiliation with this music."
