PUERTO RICO (Jazz news website) - The famous tenor saxophonist, and jazz composer Michael Brecker will arrive to Puerto Rico during next weekend. He arrives specifically this Sunday April 13th and he will be received for his musical partner Humberto Ram'rez. His visit to the Island has direct connection with the puertorrican trumpeter. Brecker, who is original from Philadelphia, comes unique and exclusively for play the tenor saxophone in three pieces of Humberto Ram'rez next album titled Miles Latino; that is the first Latin jazz tribute to the music of the legendary jazz musician Miles Davis. The three musical pieces in where the saxophonist will participate as special guest soloist are: Four, Straight No Chaser and So What. Curiously, Michael Brecker is an admirer of John Coltrane, another legend of the genre, and many people compare him with Coltrane. John Coltrane became a member of the Miles Davis Quintet for a few years and he performanced in the recording of these three themes in Miles albums. Humberto Ram'rez and Michael Brecker will be realizing this recording Monday April 14th in Studio 233 of Casa de Los Tapes in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. "For his virtuosity, I estimate that took him a few hours to realize the recording" - says Ram'rez, who previously sent the musical scores to the instrumentalist. It expects Brecker comes back to New York Tuesday April 15th.
