NY (Top40 Charts) - Teen pop star Mandy Moore, Usher, Better Than Ezra, and Jagged Edge will perform live at this year's Miss Teen USA competition, according to Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization. The Miss Teen USA pageant, to be co-hosted by Moore and MTV personality Brian McFayden, will take place in spring-break hot spot South Padre Island, Texas, on August 22.

Shugart said in a statement, "The key to this year's competition is music. Music is the core of teen pop culture and we are very excited that this year we have an unprecedented number of music acts, more than we've ever had before. With Mandy Moore, Usher, Better Than Ezra, and Jagged Edge, we have a diverse lineup of artists that reflect that diverse tastes of today's teens."

Fifty-one delegates, representing each U.S. state and the District Of Columbia, will compete in the 19th annual competition. The contestants will be narrowed down to 10 finalists during the live telecast, and then a celebrity panel of judges - featuring LFO members Rich Cronin, Brad Fischetti, and Devin Lima, among others - will then narrow the field to five before choosing the new Miss Teen USA, who will take the reins from last year's winner Jillian Parry. The Miss Teen USA broadcast will air at 9 p.m. ET August 22 on CBS
