LOS ANGELES(Top40 Charts/ Reprise Records) - There's very few Australian bands, let alone local bands, who can fill a venue such as Brisbane's The Arena. We all know The Butterfly Effect, Parkway Drive, Cog etc are up to the task. Rewind 10-15 years and it was Dreamkillers who filled these shoes, along with fellow punk stalwarts like The Fireballs, The Meanies, and the early years of bands such as Frenzal Rhomb and Regurgitator.
Dreamkillers are also one of only a few Australian bands to sign to hard rock's biggest international label, Roadrunner Records. There exists an extensive back catalogue which spans 15 years, almost as many band members and some prominent indie labels. The main band which spawned Dreamkillers on it's demise, 'Mystery of Sixes', was the only known Australian band to have signed with Jello Biafra's (Dead Kennedys) label Alternative Tentacles.
You would be forgiven if you have seen the name around in the last couple of years and thought, 'who is this band that has popped up seemingly out of nowhere, filling venues and pulling fanatical followers to shows', or, if you come before generation Y, is it the same Dreamkillers?
Yes, it's THAT Dreamkillers, and yes they are back with a vengeance. Jobson and his ragtag band of punks have laid low, as the new line-up is solidified and some copyright issues finalised. The band intend to break the silence on the recording front, with their impending as yet untitled EP, which has been written and currently undergoing the pre-production stage. A filmclip is being planned and the band intend on using their upcoming show as a platform to snip some live footage. So that means a sneak preview of at least 1 new song.
Dreamkillers play Monstrothic at Rosies Live, Brisbane City on Friday 4th September, with fellow noise-makers Lynchmada, Severed Link and Magnertron. So if you want to get your mug on some Oz-rock heritage, march on down and get amongst the mosh.
