New York (Top40 Charts/ Basic NYC PR) - With his new album 'Obsession' coming soon, LA's Andy Caldwell is about to make some waves. Known primarily for his sun-soaked west coast house sound, Caldwell travels down a darker, more electronic path with this brand-new release. On Saturday, October 10th, Caldwell will be making his first Sullivan Room visit in close to two years, as he brings his new style back to New York for a headlining set.

Caldwell has been a key player in house music circles for almost fifteen years now, rising up from San Francisco's mid-90s underground with a number of independent releases. His big break came through his association with OM Records, where as a founding member of the group Soulstice, he came to worldwide prominence. He then went solo, and he's since become a highly in-demand remixer, producer and globe-trotting DJ. In addition, he runs his own label UNO Recordings, the imprint that's preparing to release the new 'Obsession' LP.

Citing his attraction to a more European sound, Caldwell pushes both his songwriting and studio skills to the max on the new album. Working with a wide range of vocalists and collaborators, including Storm Lee, Gram'ma Funk (from Groove Armada's classic 'I See You Baby'), and New York's Mr. V, the album's 11 tracks represent a new start for Caldwell. 'My sound has been changing over the last few years,' He says. 'I got more into the electronic sound with the European house scene and wanted to express that in an album. I was really feeling stagnant creatively and broke out of the soulful house shackles about a year ago.'

This will be Andy's second visit to Sullivan Room for Basic NYC, and is a rare New York appearance for the Los Angelino. With residencies in both LA and San Francisco, Caldwell is a busy DJ, and we're looking forward to hearing what he has in store for us. Warming up the night will be Break Bookings' Dani Lehman, with Niki McNally opening for Caldwell. Residents Sleepy & Boo close it out.
