Celtic Thunder pay homage to cherished musical entertainers of past and present on their most ambitious project to date, IT'S ENTERTAINMENT. An impressive new CD and DVD, the spectacular musical review was filmed in front of a live audience in Toronto and spans six decades of musical styles with a set list to satisfy fans of all ages.
The collection of infectious interpretations includes diverse covers such as "Standing on the Corner" alongside pop numbers such as U2's "Still Haven't Found (What I'm Looking For)," The Proclaimers' "My Life Without You" and Leonard Cohen's timeless gem "Hallelujah." IT'S ENTERTAINMENT - the new concert special - will premiere on Public Television beginning February 27th, with airings to follow all through the month of March (check local listings). IT'S ENTERTAINMENT marks Celtic Thunder's third major Public Television concert event.
Hailed as BILLBOARD's Top world music artist and Top World Imprint of 2009, the phenomenon that is Celtic Thunder has achieved sales of 500,000 copies to date. Their previous releases, Celtic Thunder: The Show and Act Two, are still fixtures on Billboard's Top World Albums Chart after debuting at No 1. Their 2009 CD/DVD release, Take Me Home, debuted at No 1 in July and has remained firmly ensconced in the World Albums Top Ten. Decca also earned honors as BILLBOARD's Top world music label of 2009. Celtic Thunder's mass appeal and devoted fan base continues growing with impressive on-line statistics to prove it. Their official YouTube channel, Thunder Tube has seen over 4 million upload views and 265,000 channel views since the channel's inception in summer 2008.
IT'S ENTERTAINMENT highlights Celtic Thunder's vocal prowess and undeniable charisma, with Irishmen Damian McGinty, Keith Harkin, Paul Byrom, Ryan Kelly, and Scotsman George Donaldson shining on two numbers a piece. Celtic Thunder vocalist and guitarist Neil Byrne also turns in wonderful performances leading vocals on "Hallelujah" and going to solo on the CD track "When You Wish Upon A Star."
The 60-minute DVD, shot in high-definition, will feature more than half an hour of additional bonus material including behind-the-scenes footage and interviews. The CD will also feature new tracks not in the DVD concert special.
