SAN FRANCISCO (Top40 Charts/ Ho'Down Quartet Official Website) - Acclaimed bluegrass outfit, San Francisco's Ho'Down Quartet will make a rare appearance at Amnesia Bar, January 18, 2010, at 10pm, as part of the venue's Bluegrass Monday showcase. Featuring a mix of traditional bluegrass, string jazz, original material, and other eclectic acoustic music, Ho'Down Quartet won acclaim as one of the most exciting bands to emerge from the Bay Area music scene when they began in the early 2000s. After a hiatus that found band members scattered around the country, the reunited band will share the night of music with another local favorite, Homespun Rowdy.

Ho'Down Quartet is the product of four musicians with the common aspiration of stretching the boundaries of the bluegrass genre and honing their complimentary talents. Jim Chomas won audiences over with his soulful lead vocals, innovative songwriting, and hot guitar picking. Mike Fox, fiddle virtuoso brought interminable energy and Celtic, Klezmer, and Latin influences. Jordan Klein's banjo playing ranged from traditional to experimental as his tenor harmonies helped to round out the group's sound, and bass ace Ben Bernstein (New Monsoon) rounded out the mix. With their high energy, talented musicianship, charismatic style, and innovative writing by all of the group's members, Ho'Down Quartet was a true band.

The band released their debut album Hangin' Tree in July 2003, and followed that up in November 2004 with LIVE! on a high wire. Called away by work, family and other opportunities, the members of Ho'Down Quartet disbanded to pursue other projects but never 'broke up.' When the stars aligned and the quartet found they'd all be in San Francisco at the same time in January, a show became a foregone conclusion. Homespun Rowdy, who play the third Monday of every month at Amnesia, were kind enough to split the evening with them at their Bluegrass Monday residency. On Monday, the Rowdies will go on first, and Ho'Down will come on at 10pm and play one set.

Homepsun Rowdie and Ho'Down Quartet, Monday, January 18, 8:30pm Amnesia Bar, 853 Valencia St. (Between19th & 20th), San Francisco, CA; https://www.amnesiathebar.com; FREE
