Prior to the Ultravox London Hammersmith show (April 11, 2010), the official Ultravox Fanclub - Extreme Voice has announced the first live appearance by Messengers since 2002. Those who were around during the Ultravox hey day will fondly recall the Messengers - who not only opened up for Ultravox, but would also augment the live line-up of the main act. The Messengers will play the famed 100 Club, on the afternoon of April 11, 2010. Tickets for the event are still available via ultravox.org.uk or at wegottickets.com.
In other news, the long awaited 2009 live album Ultravox Live at the Roundhouse, will get a UK release on April 5, 2010 on EMI in two formats: a DVD + 2CD Special Edition containing the full 18 track live performance in both audio and video, plus a 39 minute 'Building Eden' reformation documentary, and a 13 track highlights CD (audio only). To celebrate the release, Townsend Records are giving away a limited amount of exclusive A4 'Return to Eden' Art prints. ??
Vienna for Number One Campaign??
The 2010 fan led Facebook Campaign to see Ultravox finally get to number one with 'Vienna', is gaining momentum, almost thirty years on from the time it was held off the top slot by both John Lennon and Joe Dolce. Interestingly, Joe Dolce himself has launched a rival campaign in a bid ?to repeat history. The Facebook group urges fans to purchase and download the Vienna single from any legal UK based source such as Amazon or Itunes. Downloads will be from Sunday, April 4th 2010, April 10th only. Overseas fans can join in by going to nokiamusic.co.uk - this is how Rage Against the ?Machine Fans outside the UK made their purchases count towards the UK chart. Midge Ure's autobiography 'If I Was' is now being re-released on August 31st 2010 in the UK, apparently with additional new chapter.
