New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) - Chad Stokes, front man of Boston revolution rock trio State Radio, plays guitar with unbridled ferocity as he flails across the stage and jumps from the drum riser with dirty Cons kicking through the air. Among his collection of Fender Strats and beaten-to-hell acoustics is an odd-looking guitar that looks like an oil can. Not only is said guitar exactly that, it's a prized possession.

Check out the guitar here.

Chad received the handmade ax from a close friend who returned to the States with a gift from a 2-year visit to South Africa. The guitar is made out of a Castrol oil can, bottle tops, salvaged copper and plastic, and was purchased on the street in Capetown.

Says Chad, "The can guitar was stolen in Boulder, Colorado, but the perpetrator was caught on video tape and the barman recognized the lad - he gave the guitar back. It is now rusty from sweat and blood and the paint is slowly wearing off but it's become a true friend and always goes with me where ever we go."

"Fidel Castrol," one of Chad's nicknames for the guitar, was used to record "Calling All Crows" and "Bohemian Grove" on State Radio's latest release, 'Let It Go.' Chad typically plays the guitar at shows on songs like "Knights Of Bostonia," "The Diner Song," "Rushian," "CIA," and more.
