Nashville, TN (Top40 Charts/ Granville
Automatic Official Website) - Granville Automatic, the new alt country project from
Vanessa Olivarez and
Elizabeth Elkins, debuts in New York City July 22 at The Living Room.
The duo write quiet and lyrical story songs pulled from a shared love of history, storms, horses, war and heartache. After writing together first in the spring of 2009, the pair spent the last year composing nearly 50 songs. A sonic combination of Gillian Welch, Ryan Adams, Emmylou Harris and the Cowboy Junkies, Granville Automatic's debut record is expected in early 2011 - the pair will record in Nashville this winter.
The NYC date is a part of the group's Acoustic Preview Tour, which began in Texas in June and runs throughout the South and East Coast, back to Texas and ends in Hollywood in October.
'I've worn a lot of musical hats since Idol,' Olivarez explained. 'And this is where I finally feel at home. It's a band about melodies and words, and the beauty of simple stories.'
