London UK (Top40 Charts/ Velocity Communications) - The organisers behind In The City 2010, the UK's premier new music convention - which takes place in Manchester on October 13th, 14th and 15th October - have announced further details of this year's event. One key change in 2010 will see In The City moving away from its traditional home at The Midland Hotel to the prestigious City Inn Hotel, which will serve as this year's conference base. A number of other venues throughout Manchester's Piccadilly and Northern Quarter will also host conference events.

Another major factor of In The City 2010 will be low delegate registration fees. Early bird delegate registration is now on offer for only 150 until the end of July. This covers all conference activities and guarantees access to all live music events taking place throughout In The City 2010.

Operating under this year's overall theme, 'That that don't kill me can only make me stronger,' In The City provides a vital forum via keynote addresses, celebrity interviews, masterclasses, panels and seminars for music industry professionals to discuss the future of the music business, and also provides the focus for hundreds of live music events that will be taking place during the convention.

Three major keynote events have now been announced for this year's conference.

Roc Nation President & Co-Founder Jay Brown in conversation with Nick Raphael, MD of Epic Records.

Jay Brown started his career working for legendary record producer Quincy Jones. He moved on to senior executive roles at Elektra Entertainment Group and Def Jam Recordings but is best known for his work with Jay-Z and Roc Nation. Roc Nation has been at forefront of creating innovative new strategic partnerships and business models such as those innovative with Live Nation and Sony Music and has become a creative hub for artists, writers and producers such as including Daniel Merriweather and the Ting Tings. Nick Raphael is one of the UK's most respected major label heads. He is MD of Epic Records and has achieved a long and distinguished career, including signing Jay-Z to Northwestside Records in the 1990s.

'Unblocked Beats' - featuring Jho Oakley, Nick Halkes and Caroline Protheroe. Moderated by Ben Turner.

Dance music has certainly come in from the wilderness of late, moving from the fields and warehouses of the early 90's, through the club circuit and now on to the arenas, stadiums and headline stages of festivals the world over. The acts are more daring and innovative than ever before, but a lot of this has been down to those behind the scenes helping to make the music happen. The latest generation of dance music managers have truly set the benchmark with their methods of artist development that they are making names for themselves in their own right. Moderated by Graphite Media boss and Association of Independent Festivals founder Ben Turner who also manages Rob Da Bank and Tom Middleton, taking part in this discussion are some of the most successful dance music managers around. On the stage will be XL Recordings and Positiva Records co-founder Nick Halkes who now manages a number of successful dance artists, Jho Oakley of Jho Management who oversee the careers of arena conquering Pendulum, Chase&Status, Sub Focus, Noisia and Caroline Protheroe the former head of Dance for Virgin Records who now manages David Guetta among others.

Manchester dance music legend and MD of the newly re-launched Deconstruction Records Mike Pickering in conversation with Paul Morley.

Mike Pickering first came to prominence in the 1980's as a DJ at The Hac,ienda's infamous "Nude" and "Hot" nights and later "Shine". He later worked for Factory Records where he signed The Happy Mondays amongst others. He was the founder, writer and producer of Quando Quango and later M People. He now runs the newly re-launched, legendary dance music label Deconstruction Records, which is now part of Sony Music Entertainment. Paul Morley is an acclaimed journalist and broadcaster.

Dozens more panels, celebrity interviews, seminars, masterclasses and keynotes featuring some of the biggest names in the international music industry will be announced in the near future.

In The City Director Yvette Livesey, who developed the original format of the event in partnership with the late Anthony Wilson said, 'In certain areas the music industry still faces huge challenges but in others there is cause for real optimism. High quality music across all genres is still being produced and the emotional value people place on it remains undiminished. We have all had to roll with the punches in recent years, including In The City, but it feels like this has been a positive evolution and whilst we all need to keep fighting for the future of our industry I strongly believe that this industry is back on an upward curve. In The City remains committed to providing the definitive forum for discussion and debate and we are currently in the process of putting together the strongest line-up of speakers, panellists and events we have had for years.'

On the live music front 'In The City Live' is the place for UK and International labels to showcase their artists. Thousands of people attend In The City live events to see hundreds of live bands and presentations from the coolest indie labels to sophisticated showcases from the world's most successful record companies.

In addition 'In The City Unsigned' is a unique opportunity for bands/artists to showcase in front of the cheque-waving A&R and serious industry players who attend the daytime convention.

Since 1992, 'In The City Unsigned' has become the most important and successful annual new music showcase event and has been a significant stepping-stone in the careers of, among others, Oasis, Radiohead, Suede, Elastica, Coldplay, The Darkness, Doves, Foo Fighters, Elbow, the Stereophonics, Muse, Ash, The Verve, Badly Drawn Boy, Bjork, Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Gallows, Lady Sovereign, Maximo Park, Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins, Snow Patrol, and many more.

Demo submissions by artists wanting to perform at 'In The City Unsigned' 2010 can now be made online at the official In The City website, which can be found at www.inthecity.co.uk, until August 6th 2010.

In The City is also making available a limited amount of live music only wristbands to the general public, which will give access to all of the live music performances taking place at this year's event. At present these wristbands are on offer at the early bird price of just 22 from www.inhecity.co.uk

A full-line up of all the artists performing live at In The City 2010 will be released later this summer.

All delegate registration information can be found by visiting www.inthecity.co.uk where a full breakdown of all the various packages on offer and the opportunity to register online is available.
