New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Celtic MP3s Music Magazine) The Celtic MP3s
Music Magazine continues to take Irish and Celtic music out of the pub and into your inbox as it has done for the past ten years.
Ten years ago, when Celtic musician Marc Gunn wanted to expand his audience, he turned to the internet. He created the Celtic-Muse ezine, and he used it as a way to promote his own music and that of his band the Brobdingnagian Bards.
That original Celtic magazine incarnation focused heavily on the late”and often lamented”MP3.com. Through that site, Gunn encounter other independent Celtic performers producing amazing sounds that he felt deserved a wider audience. He began to feature these artists as well, and so the Celtic MP3s Music Magazine was born. Through it, a global audience is given access to a wide variety of Celtic offerings, from folksongs to Celtic rock, and everything in between.
In its current incarnation, the magazine is the premiere source of reviews and information about indie Celtic performers ranging from familiar favorites such as Altan, Gaelic Storm, Lunasa, Loreena McKennitt, and The Dubliners to new and exciting artists just starting out to make their own names, like Athas, Ceann, FIMM, Poitin, Anne Roos, Maidens IV, and Sligo Rags. Each issue features reviews of fresh Celtic music and articles about aspects of Celtic culture ranging from a brief history of Ireland to a list of Irish Drinking Songs.
Marc Gunn, styled by some as the "The Celtfather", is tireless in his promotion of Celtic music. This monthly electronic magazine is a shining example of that work. Many of the featured artists provide links to free MP3s of their work, making it a destination of choice for music lovers wishing to discover new artists in the Celtic music genre. The MP3s are sometimes time sensitive, but always last through the month they are featured. This gives everyone a chance to discover new artists to patronize. These free MP3s are merely introductions to a world of Celtic albums waiting to be purchased.
The century started with a bright new idea for a magazine to feature an under-appreciated genre; the decade has built a groundswell of interest in Celtic culture; the future offers limitless possibilities.
