The track, featuring Snoop Dogg, sold 4,398,212 million downloads in the U.S., and 8 million singles, digital tracks, mobile tracks and videos worldwide.
California Gurls," which has been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals," is the first single from Katy's best-selling current album Teenage Dream, which has been nominated for two Grammy's, including Album of the Year." After California Gurls" spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Katy scored two follow-up No. 1's, the Grammy-nominated single Teenage Dream" and her current single Firework," which returns to the top slot this week, marking it's 4th reigning week at No 1. Katy finished out 2010 by selling a million copies of Teenage Dream and 10 million digital singles.
After much speculation, Katy has confirmed that E.T." will be the fourth single released from Teenage Dream. Currently available on iTunes, E.T." will go to radio in mid-February.
Last night, Katy won two People's Choice Awards for Favorite Female Artist" and Favorite Online Sensation" - awards voted on by fans. Katy's won the People's Choice Award for Best Pop Song" in 2009. Over the course of her career, she has also won a BRIT Award, two MTV Europe Music Awards, an NRJ Music Award, and two Teen Choice Awards, among other international honors.
It was announced this morning that Katy will guest star on an episode of the CBS Emmy-nominated series How I Met Your Mother" titled "Oh Honey," to be broadcast later this season.
Katy recently performed during ABC's telecast of The American Music Awards (she was nominated for three, including Artist of the Year") and CBS's The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Katy's California Dreams 2011 World Tour kicks off in Lisbon, Portugal, on February 20th. The tour will visit UK/Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, followed by North America next summer. Katy recently added arena dates throughout the UK in October and November.
