NEW YORK (Lynyrd Skynyrd Official Website) -
Lynyrd Skynyrd will continue their "Vicious
Cycle TOUR" in 2004 with U.S. dates scheduled to run late January through early March. The trek was named after the group's triumphant Vicious
Cycle album (Sanctuary Records), recently voted one of the top five "Best Guitar Albums of 2003" in the Rock category by 'Guitar World' readers who also selected the band's three-headed guitar team of Gary Rossington, Rickey Medlocke and Hughie Thomasson in the top five "Best Rock Guitarist" category.
The band will return to the road as their latest single "Dead Man Walkin'" - a song that blends stripped down acoustic blues with the band's explosive signature slide guitars - reaches airwaves across the country. Co-written by Rossington, Johnny Van Zant, Medlocke and Thomasson with Kevin Bowe, "Dead Man Walkin'" is about a father taking justice into his own hands: "Dead man walkin'/They say he broke the law/Taken the life of another man/Who done his daughter wrong."
On the "Vicious Cycle" tour, the much-storied American band who have sold over 25 million albums perform all of their biggest hits, including "Sweet Home Alabama," "Gimme Three Steps," "Freebird," "Call Me The Breeze" and their newest Vicious Cycle classic "Red White and Blue." Vicious Cycle, Lynyrd Skynyrd's first new studio album in four years, is distinguished by the guitar firepower of Rossington, Medlocke and Thomasson, the emotive vocals of Van Zant and the panoramic keyboard work of Billy Powell.
In addition to the release of Vicious Cycle, Lynyrd Skynyrd celebrated their 30th anniversary last year by issuing Lynyrd Skynyrd: LIVE DVD (Sanctuary Records), which features the band's triumphant show before 17,000 heartland fans this past July 11 at the AmSouth Amphitheatre in Nashville.
