New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ JetBlue Airways) JetBlue Airways (Nasdaq: JBLU) proudly announces an exclusive, intimate concert for ticketed customers by Columbia Records Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter and record producer
Raphael Saadiq on Friday, April 8, post-security at Terminal 5 (T5) at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York. The Live from T5 concert will be the first to be hosted on a Friday, much to the enjoyment of the customers getting ready to start-off their weekend on JetBlue.
"We are happy to continue attracting talent like R&B's own Raphael Saadiq to JetBlue's Live from T5 concert series," said Chris Timmins, brand coordinator at JetBlue. "Whether they're coming back home on JetBlue or getting away for the weekend, our customers will receive a live, unexpected and intimate performance to kick-off their weekend in style."
Raphael Saadiq, considered the standard bearer for "old school" R&B, is celebrating the classic sounds of the 60s and 70s soul with a futuristic twist on Stone Rollin'. Featuring ten new tracks, the album, which will be released on May 10th, is the follow up to Saadiq's 2008 solo album The Way I See It, which boasted four Billboard R&B chart singles and was nominated for three Grammy Awards including Best R&B Album. Now with this new collection, Saadiq nods to his heroes like Chuck Berry, Stevie Wonder, Little Walter and Sly Stone, while merging his own contemporary sound, one born out of a combination of his recent touring experiences, as well as inspiration derived from indie acts that hold regular rotation in his iPod.
JetBlue's Live from T5 concert series debuted in 2009 with performances by Nicole Atkins, Alberta Cross and Justin Townes Earle, among others. The concert series was developed in partnership with Superfly Marketing Group - a division of New York-based Superfly Presents - a multi-dimensional entertainment and marketing company with expertise in strategy development, creative programming, and lifestyle event production. Live from T5 features hand-picked emerging artists from around the U.S. on select evenings throughout the year. During the past year the series hosted artists like James Blunt, Taylor Swift, Sarah McLachlan and rock band Daughtry.
JetBlue is widely known for its award-winning customer service and product features, including a live in-flight entertainment system with more than 140 channels of free programming on personal seatback TVs (a) and reasonably priced first-run JetBlue Features movies (b). Customers also enjoy comfortable seats with the most legroom of any other U.S. airline in coach (c) and, to top it off, complimentary and unlimited snacks and drinks for the ride.
