P.J. Pacifico's 'Outlet' Is Set For June 7th On Viper Records
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Vipper Records) A New Marriage Sparks Songs of Hopefulness, as Radio-Friendly Rock/Pop CD Evokes Gin Blossoms, Matthew Sweet and a Bit of Simon and Garfunkel

P.J. Pacifico's 'Outlet' is Set for June 7th on Viper Records - Features Tracks Produced by Grammy Award Winner Dave O'Donnell (John Mayer, James Taylor)

Singer-songwriter P.J. Pacifico delivers a confident, upbeat collection of road-tested rock/pop music, on his June 7th Viper Records release, 'Outlet'. With a radio-friendly sound that evokes Gin Blossoms and Matthew Sweet, and a storyteller's cadence that has been compared to James Taylor, Pacifico appears poised for mainstream success with the new album, his third.

Each of the ten songs on 'Outlet' was written since Pacifico's engagement (and subsequent marriage) to his long-time girlfriend, and several tracks pay homage to his new bride. The sense of hopefulness and groundedness is palpable, as is Pacifico's 'ownership' of the new material - all of the tracks were performed live for months prior to recording the album, as Pacifico embarked on an extended residency in his home state of Connecticut, often playing as many as four nights per week.

The pedigree on 'Outlet' is also evident: The album opens with two songs (the singles 'Fold Up Your Heart' and 'Head's Up',) both produced by Grammy winner David O'Donnell (John Mayer, James Taylor). This pair of standout tracks also features producer Andy Abel on electric guitars, Jack Daley (Lenny Kravitz) on bass and Brian Doherty (They Might Be Giants) on drums, with Pacifico on acoustic guitar and vocals. Other highlights include the haunting 'Lakeshore Drive', the Simon and Garfunkel-esque 'New Song' and 'Home With Me,' which condenses Pacifico's decade-long relationship with his now-wife into 4:43 minutes.

P.J. Pacifico song notes for 'Outlet':

Fold Up Your Heart - A song about a weekend in San Francisco. I was visiting a friend out there to get away from a break up scene back home. Apparently, I wouldn't shut up about it and my friend had heard enough after a day or so. She told me to fold up my heart for a while and be quiet. Leave it alone, put it on the shelf, let it get dusty and go on with life. Go back to it after a while and see what happens. The cool thing was her advice worked. The girl I was broken up with at the time is now my wife. So, the chorus is from my friend's point of view from SF talking to me, while the verses are me talking about the situation.

Heads Up - A song about telling someone to fuck off, but in the nicest way possible. A friend had come to me time & time again, saying that he wanted to change certain things about his life (I had changed my life and he wanted the same.) I'd go out of my way to help him out, and then he'd go and do the complete opposite of what I suggested. But he cried wolf one too many times, and I haven't heard from him since. I wanted to wish him luck.

Home With Me - It took my wife and me ten years to get on the same page and finally get married. We split up a number of times but always came back to each other. Sometimes space and a break is the best thing for a relationship. Finally, after I made a lifestyle change in 2007, we slowly started to get to another level. And here we are. This song is our story crammed into 4:43.

Lakeshore Drive - The first song I've written and recorded that isn't in standard tuning. A track that stands out on its own on this record. I love this song. I'll leave it up to the listener. Chicago is my only hint.

As Soon As I Can - My wife is the coolest chick on the planet to me. She's behind my career 100%, and gives me the freedom to take my show on the road as much as possible. I wrote this song as a thank you to her.

Waiting - A fictional song about a common scenario. It's a about falling for your best friend, it being unknown at first, while the circle of surrounding friends are rooting for the two to get together. Almost a lullaby.

New Song - A song about the song itself. I wanted a quick, catchy tune and I didn't care what was being said in the lyrics. It reminds me of Blues Traveler's "Hook" where it's almost a mockery of a hooky song. Once I picked up the guitar and had the "eee-yo" melody and hook, the song wrote itself.

Where I Can Be - Whenever I discover my favorite new song, I always feel like it's all mine...that nobody else gets to hear it but me. I remember getting R.E.M.'s Green & then Automatic For The People and thinking (after listening to the album once) that I better listen to this alone fast, because there are a ton of tunes on here that are going to be all over the radio soon. This song kinda has that theme. It also touches on collaborating again - an old band member and best friend always says how he'd like to start writing, recording and touring with me again. But it's tough because of the solo career I have going. I wrote this song with room for a second voice to chime in at any time. I purposely recorded only one vocal track for that reason.

Ships In The Night - Written by Jonathan Stuart and his brother Ken. Jonathan owns Viper records and has written many songs. I was flipping through his notebook of lyrics and this one jumped out at me. I had to make it my own. It's such a visual song. You can see the bar as you listen. I love this song.

Targets - This one was written and recorded about two weeks before I went to mastering. It snuck in at the last minute and I'm glad it did. I remember seeing The Buddy Holly Story as a kid and immediately fell in love with Buddy's music and style. The backbeat is a total ode to Buddy, a la Peggy Sue. The lyrics are about being on the road touring and how much time I spend viewing life through the windshield of a rent-a-car.
