New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) A showcase for some of the world's best guitarists in any genre, The Iridium has confirmed two striking new additions to their April lineup.
Junior Brown will join The Les Paul Trio with his trademark guit-steel guitar on Monday 4/18, and supremely versatile guitarist Marc Ribot will perform on
Thursday 4/21.
Brown, who has toured with luminaries including Bob Dylan, is best-known for his wizardry on the guit-steel, a hybrid guitar he invented that features two necks: one from a traditional electric and one from a lap steel. The New York Times praised his "biting electric guitar leads" and "suave steel," while All Music Guide has described him as a "demon guitarist."
Marc Ribot's recording credits read like a who's who of songwriters: Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Allen Toussaint, Elton John & Leon Russell, The Black Keys, and many more. Ribot is a frequent collaborator with renowned producer T Bone Burnett, but his upcoming Iridium performance will spotlight his own prodigious work as an avant-garde composer exploring the crossroads of roots and jazz.
About The Iridium:
Deemed "hallowed ground" by legendary guitarist Steve Miller, The Iridium stage has played a part in launching the careers of countless artists, though it may be known best as The Home of Les Paul. Called "The Father of the Electric Guitar," Paul performed at The Iridium weekly for more than 12 years until his passing in 2009. Today, the Les Paul trio continues on in his honor, showcasing the diversity of the electric guitar every Monday night with world class special guests that have included Jeff Beck, Zakk Wylde, Steve Miller, and Ted Nugent, who will perform May 16.
