New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Enteramente Artist Services) South Shores is quickly being recognized as one of the better bands to come out of
Texas this year. Following up on their Debut CD "New Beginnings" the band teamed up again with veteran producer Geoff
Rockwell (Forever The Sickest Kids,
Disco Curtis) one more time and the results are impressive. The new EP is titled "
Reality Check" and it is noticeably different from the bands first CD. With the addition of
Aaron Sutton on lead guitar it brings a whole new dimension to the band that was previously lacking. The 20 year old Sutton is a knockoff of Eddie
Van Halen and if you close your eyes while listening to him play you'd swear it was Eddie. "
Reality Check" also features Ryan Hoyle (Collective Soul, Paul Rodgers Band) who made a guest appearance on the song "Scrutinzed" playing drums.
About South Shores:
South Shores originally started as an Austin, Texas as a studio project by the bands founder Sean Layton in 2006. After two years of making demos and writing songs, Sean hooked up with Dallas based major label producer Geoff Rockwell (Forever the Sickest Kids, Disco Curtis) to record their ironically titled debut EP "New Beginnings". Just a week before the sessions started Sean lost everything he owned in a freak five alarm fire at his home. With the love and support of his family, his life's savings, along with the guitar that he had at his friends house when the fire occurred, Sean proceeded to record and recruited long time friend, Grant Pittman to play guitar and keys.
After completing the EP, the duo relocated to the Dallas/Ft Worth area and began to audition new band members. The South Shores line up was solidified when they added Aaron Sutton on lead guitar, Nathan Palmer on bass, and Austin Caplinger on drums. The resulting sound was explosive!
In December of 2010 when the band entered the studio to record "Reality Check" they hooked up with the well respected Austin based firm Enteramente Artist Services to provide strategic planning and management leadership.
Fast forward, With two coast to coast tours now under their belt, a solid fan base (approx 50,000 online), a performance at SXSW 2010, numerous club dates, and close to 10 performances at Six Flags Over Texas the band is ready for what the future holds. And the future is looking very bright given the amount of interest in the band both in the United States and England. Chosen from thousands of bands nationwide South Shores will be performing at the Worlds Largest Outdoor Music Festival "Summerfest" in Milwaukee on Friday July 1st.
