Rising Hip/Hop Star J. Dash Launches First Ever YouTube Street Team
Jacksonville, FL. (Top40 Charts/ J. Dash Official Website) Up and coming hip/hop star, J. Dash is putting a brand new spin on an old-school marketing concept. Rather than utilizing the flyers and stickers characteristic of the traditional guerrilla-style street team promotion, though, J. Dash is hitting the cyber-streets.

The result is the first ever YouTube street team. The Florida-based rapper is asking fans to take to the popular video broadcasting website, as well as Facebook and Twitter, to help take his infectious single "WOP" platinum.

So far, the strategy is proving to be a surprising success. Having already sold over 100,000 tracks on iTunes, the "WOP" single, music video and ringtone are all charting in iTunes' TOP 100 Hip/Hop charts.

The secret behind the success is a unique marketing plan aimed at encouraging fans to become part of a virtual street team. Through an entertaining instructional video hosted by J. Dash himself (see video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiK8k3phLPk), fans are walked through the process of posting their own YouTube videos and utilizing the annotations feature to post banners that let viewers know where they can go to purchase the single. Street team members are also asked to share their own "WOP" videos on Facebook and Twitter and are encouraged to request the song on their favorite radio stations and in clubs.

The single has also spawned a dance craze with thousands of videos posted on YouTube by J. Dash fans performing the "WOP" (an average of 1 new WOP video per hour) resulting in more than 5 million views and growing quickly."

Behind the wildly successful song is an artist with surprising depth. J. Dash is a piano prodigy who began playing Mozart at age 8 and cut his teeth playing in various blues and jazz bands throughout his teens. In addition to his roles as a rapper, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, the Renaissance man also holds a degree in computer science from the University of Florida.
