NEW YORK (Barbra Streisand Fans Website) - Barbra Streisand has to pay the $177,000 in legal fees that an amateur photographer had to spend to fend off her lawsuit against him. Barbra Streisand sued Kenneth Adelman that he took aerial pictures of her estate and that it increased the problem she already has with stalkers. Adelman said he posted the photos as part of his scientific research on coastline conservation. He has posted more than 12,000 photos on his California Coastal Records Project Web site. The Web site "is not about Streisand," Adelman said Thursday. "It's about the California coast, and she happens to have a very, very small part about it." Superior Court Judge Allan J. Goodman ordered Streisand to pay Adelman's lawyer fees when the judge dismissed the lawsuit in December. The two sides couldn't agree on the amount, so the judge ordered Streisand to pay an additional $15,000 to cover the costs Adelman incurred by returning to court during the negotiations. "I'm obviously disappointed [with the ruling]," Streisand's lawyer, John Gatti, said after the judge's decision this week. "We think it's a very important case for privacy interests. I think that in time this issue will come up again in other forms and other contexts, but I think the rulings will be different." Gatti refused to comment on whether Streisand would appeal the judge's decision. Gatti told press only that the judge ignored Streisand's main complaint that she was singled out for recognition on the Web site while other homeowners remained unnamed. Eventhough she claimed that the pictures showed parts that weren't able to be seen from the street, she still lost. In my opinion correctly because anyone, including stalkers can hire a plane and get a trip over the coast, including Barbra's estate.
