NEW YORK (Auf Der Maur Official Website) - Auf der Maur, the self-titled solo debut from Melissa Auf der Maur, has been released yesterday in the US, June 1. Upcoming television appearances are confirmed for "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." Auf der Maur will also join the Cure's summer "Curiosa" tour.

Produced by Chris Goss (Kyuss/Queens of the Stone Age/Masters of Reality), the album finds Auf der Maur assembling a supporting cast of musicians that includes Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age/Kyuss/Eagles of Death Metal), Eric Erlandson (Hole), James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins/A Perfect Circle), John Stainer (Helmet/Tomahawk), longtime comrade Steve Durand and many others.

Auf der Maur was a member of Hole and Smashing Pumpkins, two of the 90's biggest rock bands, but after touring the world extensively for six years she decided to head out on her own. A true DIY undertaking, Auf der Maur used all the money she'd ever saved to finance and coordinate the making of her solo debut - everything from studio time to pizza delivery.

Auf der Maur's songs are ferocious, sweet and physically massive. "Followed the Waves," the first song recorded for the album, is a powerful and haunted siren call, with heavy walls of guitar and ethereal choruses.
Elsewhere, the hushed whisper that kicks off "Lightning is My Girl" gives way to an army of guitars - tangled webs of dissonance, powerful harmonies, electric soundscapes - with sultry and subzero vocals. And "Taste You" is deceptively sweet-sounding, but completely ravenous at its heart

"Skin Receiver" barrels out of the gate with horses galloping and drums thundering - lighting the fuse for a series of musical fireworks and unexpected sonic turns. "Beast of Honor" goes from angular guitar menace to dreamy skyward harmonies, growing well beyond the sum of its many parts. And the mischievously tuneful "I'll Be Anything You Want" is flirtatious and alluring right up to the moment its hungry jaws snap shut.

'Auf Der Maur' tracklisting:
1. Lightning is My Girl
2. Followed the Waves
3. Real a Lie
4. Head Unbound
5. Taste You
6. Beast of Honor
7. I'll be Anything You Want
