NEW YORK (CB's 313 Gallery press release) - For many years since
Cat Stevens has stopped writing and performing music, the spiritual muse of
Cat Stevens has been vacationing and enjoying the spiritual realm. Over the last six months, the muse, affectionately referred to as Henry, has started channeling new music through NYC performer Joe Songwriter. The public is invited to hear a performance of this new and exciting music at CB's 313 Gallery on Tuesday, June 22nd at 8pm.
Joe Songwriter has been a musician for over 15 years; writing and covering music in several bands between NYC and Boston. But, it wasn't until a spiritual awakening last June that Joe Songwriter found his voice.
"I was out of work, out of shape and completely ungrateful for all I had." Joe explains, "I was just wasting away working in unfulfilling jobs and hoping that one day I could find time to do what I love".
In his depression, Joe met with a spiritual mediator from Arizona who explained his torment as a spiritual awakening trying to manifest itself.
"It was like she saw right through me and what I was going through. It was a smack in the face to wake up!"
After that meeting, Joe began a strict vegetarian alkaline diet with daily yoga and meditation. "I lost 40 pounds and started to regain my confidence." It was during meditation that Joe felt called to write music again.
"I could hear music again! It was not like anything else I ever heard before. The music came right through me and practically played itself. By listening quietly I hear new songs. Often, spirits will bring me music in my dreams."
Many spirits have come to encourage Joe in his songwriting and audiences have started commenting that the music has the feel and style of a young Cat Stevens. "I'm honored that anyone would even think to compare my music with Cat Stevens," said Joe, "He was most certainly an influence to me and his message of peace is one I can relate heavily to."
We asked Joe if he thought it was really possible that the actual muse of Cat Stevens is writing through him. "Hey," Joe said, "anything is possible! I'm just thrilled to be writing music that feels so genuine and satisfying. I hope I can share it with as many people as possible.
