Michael will perform eight shows at a popular Christmas destination located 2 hours East of Seattle, Washington in a little Bavarian town known as Leavenworth, for their annual Lighting festival which draws huge crowds this time of year.
Joining Michael will be an amazing, up-and-coming young vocalist named Bridgette Lewis -- Michael will back her up with his acoustic loop work. This duo has been touring the Northwest for a couple of years now and they have become one of the most popular duos in the region, performing over 150 shows since Jan. of 2010. For a complete schedule of their performances see https://michaellewismusic.com/calendar.php Leavenworth is located two hours East of Seattle, on the East side of the
Cascade mountains.
A Very Cool Christmas features some notable Nashville session players including bassist Chris Kent who passed away in October at the age of 44. Kent was the bass player chosen to lay down bass parts on Michael's instrumental Christmas project back in 2000. Eleven years later, Lewis was re-cutting parts, replacing songs and remixing the project to re-release the album when Chris passed away after his third bought with cancer.
"Whenever you're working on recorded material and it features players whom you've known and worked with for many years, it can almost be as if they are there with you. As I was remixing this record, Chris was in my thoughts and prayers. I knew that his health wasn't doing well." Kent and Lewis met and began working together in Portland, Oregon, 1989 they both ended up in Nashville, reconnected and worked together frequently doing sessions and live shows.
"I didn't plan it this way, but it seems fitting to re-release the project and celebrate Chris' life and his work - he was an inspiration to many people because of his faith, his family, his integrity and his joy. And by the way, he was one of the best bass players I've ever heard or worked with. No one had a deeper groove-pocket than Chris."
Chris is featured on tracks 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10. Also featured on the project is Brian Fullen who is well known as one of Nashville's finest session drummers.
