New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) Megan Reilly, the Memphis-native with "a southern grace somewhere between Flannery O'Connor and Thin Lizzy" (Dallas Observer) will release her first album in six years The Well on April 24 via Carrot Top Records. The album is a giant leap for the songwriter and her most intimate to date. It features seven bittersweet songs by Reilly exploring the love of family, the heartbreak of loss and life-affirming redemption, as well as a duet written by and performed with John
Wesley Harding especially for the album. There's also a cover song originally by Iris Dement.
On The Well Reilly is again backed by her cracking longtime band of Steve Goulding (The Mekons, The Rumour) on drums, Tony Maimone (Pere Ubu) on bass, and
James Mastro (Ian Hunter, Garland Jeffreys) on lead guitar. Special guest Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith) plays guitar on the first two tracks of the album.
Reilly will perform songs from the new album tonight, Wed Jan 25, at Piano's on NY's Lower East Side at 8pm. RSVP
