LOS ANGELES (AP) - "You can be my Mistubishi..." In an effort to woo over the Gen-X crowd, car companies have been going to great lengths to have consumers purchase their vehicles. Sting had a song for BMW that sparked better sales in his album. Moby has done some tracks and Volkswagen not only uses catchy music, but they also have a radio station on their website. Now our favourite band from Scarborough, ON, the Barenaked Ladies are getting in on the act too. The bands song "One Week" is going to be used by Mitsubishi Motors for their Lancer automobile. From the sounds of things this would actually be a car those guys would drive around Scarborough in. It costs less than $14,000 and apparently is going to appeal to those elusive Gen-Xers. "Music is an integral part of our marketing strategy because it reflects the passion in our products and invokes the spirit of the consumers. These are stylish cars for people who want to look and feel alive and the music ties them together," said Pierre Gagnon president and chief operating officer of Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America in a press release.
